The cruise in four facts
Why the river
Budapest was three towns until 1873, and the Danube still divides it. Buda rises in hills on the west bank, and Pest spreads across flat ground on the east. The river is narrow enough in the city that from a boat both banks sit close enough to read. A table on the water puts the Parliament, the castle on its hill and the bridges in a single view, which a table on either bank cannot manage.
The Hungarian Parliament Building faces the Danube. It is 268 metres long, was begun in 1885 and finished in 1904, and is still the largest building in Hungary. The neo-Gothic facade that overlooks the river is the one you see from the boat, with its dome rising behind the spires.
Dinner here is paced by the route. You sit at your table, pick each course from a menu and eat while the embankments slide by, with live music in the room. The windows retract, so photographs do not have to go through glass, and between courses there is nothing to do but look.
UNESCO inscribed the banks of the Danube and the Buda Castle Quarter as a World Heritage Site in 1987, and Andrássy Avenue was added in 2002. A cruise passes that protected waterfront from the one place that frames all of it: the river.
Bridge by bridge
Six moments from the Pest-side dock to the island and back, in the order most guests meet them.
You board at Dock 7 on Jane Haining rakpart, the Pest embankment, where a Legenda City Cruises sign marks the boat. Your confirmation shows the departure time, and the light you meet depends on the season.
You are led to a table and handed a welcome drink: champagne, wine, beer, a soft drink or mineral water. The menu follows, with several choices for each course.
Two hundred and sixty-eight metres of neo-Gothic stone come into view from the river. The windows retract, so the first photograph is clear of glass.
The cruise glides beneath the Chain, Margit and Erzsébet bridges. Each belongs to a different decade and has a different shape, from the stone towers of the first to the long bend of the second.
On the Buda bank the royal palace stands on Castle Hill, and the Citadella and the Liberty Statue crown Gellért Hill. Both belong to the view across your table.
The route passes Margaret Island, a park 2.5 kilometres long in the middle of the Danube, along with landmarks such as the Palace of Arts, the National Theatre and the Vigadó. The commentary names each as it comes.
The route and the order of the sights depend on the day and the direction of travel, and the lighting on the buildings is the city's to switch. Read this as the shape of the evening, not a timetable.

At your table
The dinner, the drinks and the music, as the cruise is set up.

Adults eat four courses, and each one is picked from a menu with several options, so two people at the same table can have entirely different dinners. The operator's menu this season lists six starters, two soups, six main courses and three desserts.
Children eat a three-course dinner. The cruise is not suitable for children under 3.
Champagne, wine, beer, a soft drink or mineral water is waiting when you reach your table. Every further drink is bought on board.
The printed menu suggests a wine for each main course, among them a Tokaji Mandolás, an Etyek Chardonnay and a Bikavér. Ordering the suggestion is optional.
Local Hungarian artists play live through dinner. Guests describe a keyboard player and a singer who carry the room.
Guided commentary names the landmarks as they pass, so you can tell the Citadella from the palace on Castle Hill without checking a map.
The operator calls the dinner boat a panorama bubble boat, and its fleet page describes a glass-covered deck that can be removed in fair weather.
The river after dark
The river, its bridges and the Parliament, photographed by other people from the water and the embankment. None of these frames shows this particular boat.

Plan the evening
Dock 7 on Jane Haining rakpart, on the Pest embankment below Vigadó tér. Look for the Legenda City Cruises sign. The nearest metro stop is Vörösmarty tér on the yellow line, a short walk away, and tram 2 stops at Vigadó tér.
About two and a half hours on the water. Starting times appear when you check dates, and the light you meet depends on the month: the Dock 7 guide sets it out season by season.
Adults eat four courses and children three. The cruise cannot provide a vegan menu and is not suited to guests with food allergies. Vegetarians can build a dinner from the meat-free dishes on the menu.
Children under 3 and wheelchair users cannot take part. Pets, luggage, large bags, electric wheelchairs and party groups are not allowed on board.
You are led to a table when you board. The booking does not offer a choice of window tables, so treat the view as a bonus of the boat, not a promise of the seat.
The decorative lighting on the Parliament and the bridges is the city's decision and can change without notice, so a lit skyline cannot be promised for a given night. The river, the silhouettes and the dinner do not depend on it.

Adults eat four courses and children eat three, each course chosen from a menu with several options. The cruise is not suitable for children under 3.
Yes. You are given a menu and pick one dish for each course, so a table of four can order four different dinners. The operator's menu changes with the season, so the dishes you see depend on your date.
Vegetarians can eat well from the meat-free dishes on the menu. The cruise cannot provide a vegan menu, and guests with food allergies are better served by another evening, so choose a different plan if an allergy is serious.
One welcome drink is included: champagne, wine, beer, a soft drink or mineral water. Every further drink is bought on board. If you want unlimited drinks, the buffet cruise below includes them.
That is not guaranteed. The decorative lighting is set by the city and national energy policy and can change without notice. In early August 2026 it was switched off on the Parliament, Buda Castle and the Chain Bridge during a heatwave.
You board at Dock 7 on Jane Haining rakpart, on the Pest embankment, under a Legenda City Cruises sign. The cruise lasts about two and a half hours. Starting times show when you check dates.
No. You are led to a table when you board, and the booking has no window-table option. Guests have asked for one, so treat the river view as part of the whole boat, not of one seat.
Take the unlimited drinks cruise instead. It lasts 75 minutes, serves sparkling wine, spritzers and beer, and has no dinner.
Fares are per person and start at the lowest option; your own currency and the final total show on the booking page before you pay.
